Which Style of Wedding Dress Is Right For Me?

Benson by Sottero and Midgely, Available at Ellison Gray Bridal in Durham

As a Bride just starting out on your wedding planning journey, shopping around online for dress ideas is probably one of the first things you’ll do, right? (Even if you’ve been planning your future wedding on Pinterest for years before your engagement!). But it can be so daunting. There’s so much out there to choose from. And just as you think you’ve cracked it, you see another beautiful gown that takes you off in a completely different direction! Leaving you wishing that you could just go try some of these gorgeous gowns in a boutique so that you see them in person and know what suits you.  (By the way, once Brides come into store and try on some beautiful dresses, they often end up picking a completely different dress than they thought they would!)

But all this is before you even know what style of wedding you’re planning too, so it can be tricky. Do you go relaxed and Boho? Do you choose elegant and simplistic? Perhaps traditional and classic. Whatever style you opt for, there is a wedding dress that both suits you and suits your wedding theme.

We’ve teamed up with Floral Quarter Florist and put together this handy guide for you so you can see different gowns and also…..what beautiful wedding flowers go with them!

Boho

A great example of this popular style, is Benson by one of our fabulous designers, Sottero & Midgley

She is an ivory, vintage lace wedding dress with a criss-cross rope corset and optional bell sleeves.

We adore her versatility and relaxed vibes.

But what bouquet would complement this beautiful gown?

Vicky from Floral Quarter says ‘The trend for dried flowers and grasses is big right now and a bouquet of pampass grass, bleached ruscus and Olive leaves or Eucalyptus, with the added luxury of Orchids and Garden Roses, would suit this perfectly!”

Traditional

We could think of nothing better to fit this description than beautiful Ashby, by Lyn Ashworth. She is a simple and traditional, graceful dress, with satin chiffon skirt, subtly dipped neckline and silk dupion bodice.

Floral Quarter says: “Try teaming this gown with a soft, loose and romantic bouquet to match it’s own traditional prettiness. Think Sweetpeas, Garden Roses, and Stocks. All beautifully scented, with wonderful shape and texture”

Sophisticated

The ‘Sentiment’ gown from Suzanne Neville’s Modern Love collection, is the epitome of sophistication. With it’s asymmetric shoulder, comfortable yet luxurious Italian crepe and structured bodice; you’re sure to wow your guests!

Floral Quarter says “Match the luxurious design with flowers that shout luxury! For me, you could do no better than trailing Phalaenopsis Orchids for this. It’s statement, but not over the top.”
